If you have spent any time at the Frostproof Church of God, you have likely been blessed by the kindness, faithfulness, and servant hearts of Oran and Elaine Thornton. They are a living example of lives rooted in Christ and dedicated to His work.
Oran has faithfully served as both Clerk and Treasurer of the church for the past 16 years. His story of faith began in childhood, but in 1979 during a powerful revival, he and Elaine, along with their family, made a wholehearted commitment to follow Jesus. Over the years, Oran has taught Adult Sunday School, lifted his voice in the choir, and stepped in wherever he is needed, always with a humble spirit and a willing heart.
Elaine currently serves as the Secretary of the church and as Treasurer of the Ladies Ministry. Her ministry journey has included teaching Adult Sunday School, directing Children’s Church, and singing in the choir, which is a place where she finds great joy. Although she was not raised in church, her parents instilled strong moral values in her, and when she surrendered her life to the Lord in 1979, everything changed. Her heart burns with a passion to see souls saved, set free from sin, and for revival to sweep across our community and the world.
God has blessed Oran and Elaine with three wonderful children, all married with families of their own. Together, they are encouragers, prayer warriors, and faithful examples of what it means to serve God with everything you have. Their life’s mission is simple but powerful: love God, love people, and do everything possible to point others to Jesus.
